Today is Wednesday (September 21) Akheri Chahar Somba. “Akheri Chahar Somba” is a popular worship and festival among the Muslim Ummah, commemorating the day of temporary recovery of the last Prophet and Messenger, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) after a long illness, on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar.
Muslims of many countries of the world, including Bangladesh, celebrate this day with proper religious solemnity through state and private initiatives.
Akheri Chahar Somba is originally an Arabic and Persian phrase. The first word ‘akheri’ is found in Arabic and Persian. Which means – the end. The Persian word ‘Chahar’ means the month of travel and the Persian word ‘Somba’ means Wednesday. That means ‘Akheri Chahar Somba’ means the last Wednesday of Safar month. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) became very ill at the end of his life. He had a severe fever in his body. Due to fever, he lost consciousness again and again. In this situation, the members of the Prophet’s family and companions became anxious and worried. One day the light of hope shines in that despair. One morning he regained consciousness. He behaves very healthy and normal. Then he was bathed. The members of the Prophet’s family and companions were overjoyed at the recovery of the Prophet. Happily, they thank God and offer nafal prayers. In the name of Allah, he gives charity to the poor and the poor according to his ability.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, a discussion meeting and prayers will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the initiative of Islamic Foundation today after 1:30 p.m.
On Tuesday (September 20), Islamic Foundation’s Assistant Public Relations Officer Shayla Sharmin informed the media.
Shayla Sharmeen said, Hazrat Maulana Abdur Razzaq Al Azhari, the former principal of Madinatul Uloom Kamil Madrasa, will participate as the speaker of the Akheri Chahar Sombar event. It will be presided over by Director of Islamic Foundation Anichur Rahman Sarkar.
