India’s Election Commission-EC has accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of violating the electoral code. The EC said on Thursday (April 25) that it has issued a notice to the two leaders seeking response or reply. British news agency Reuters reported this news.

Modi and Rahul have been accused of seeking votes by making communal remarks. In this regard, two leaders’ parties filed complaints against each other in the Election Commission. After that, the commission sent a warning notice to them. The EC has sent a letter to BJP All India President JP Nadda and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asking for their reply. The answer should be given by 11 am on April 29.

Congress leader Rahul recently said in Hyderabad, if the Congress comes to power, it will do a socio-economic survey to see how much wealth is in the hands of any class.

In response to that comment, Modi said at a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara on Sunday that the Congress had promised to distribute the country’s wealth among Muslims in its manifesto. He said that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said in the past that Muslims have the foremost right to the wealth of the country. That is why the Congress has planned to conduct a survey. So that the hard-earned money of the countrymen can be distributed among Muslims and intruders.

The next day, Monday, Modi said to his supporters in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, “If the Congress comes to power, it will take away the mangalsutra of mothers and sisters.”

Opposition parties including Congress condemned Modi’s comments. They complained to the EC.

And BJP approached the Commission accusing Rahul of creating hatred and division on the basis of language and region.
