5 people died in extreme heat during the second phase of voting in India’s seven-phase Lok Sabha elections on Friday. The incident happened in Kerala, India.

A 68-year-old voter named Chandran fell ill after voting in the state’s Ottapalam this afternoon. He died immediately on the way to Ottapalam local hospital. Later he was declared dead by the hospital. The temperature there was 38 degrees Celsius that day.

A 63-year-old madrasa teacher died in Trirur in Mallapuram district on his way home after voting. His name is A. T. Siddiqui. He is said to have died due to heatstroke. On this day, the temperature here was 34 degrees Celsius, the relative humidity in the air was 60 percent.

Similarly, a 76-year-old man named Kombottail Kandan, a resident of Vilayodi area, died on his way home after voting. The incident took place in Ambalapuzha area of ​​Alappuzha district. The temperature in this area was 33 degrees Celsius, the relative humidity in the air was 68 percent.

Kakkajam Veliparambhu Somarajan returned home after casting his vote at SNVT High School Booth No. 138. Then the 82-year-old voter fell ill after returning home. Later he fell into the lap of death.

On the other hand, polling agent Anis Ahmed of Left Democratic Front (LDF) was in charge of Booth No. 16 of Kozhikode Town. Suddenly he fell ill. But 66-year-old Anis could not be saved even after being taken to the hospital. The temperature here was 33 degrees Celsius, the relative humidity in the air was 61 percent.
