The police will not stop the motorcyclists who have taken ‘movement pass’ from the concerned District Superintendent of Police (SP) or Highway Police Superintendent during the Eid procession. By showing this pass, they will be able to perform Eid Yatra without any hindrance. If necessary, they can go home on a motorcycle with family members.

Police officials say riding a motorcycle is a person’s private right. This may cause anger in the minds of the people due to restrictions. That is why the movement pass is being given.

On Thursday (July 8) at noon, the movement pass was confirmed to Jago News by several officers with the rank of police super.

Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Zaidul Alam, general secretary of the executive committee of the Police Service Association, told Jago News that the BRTA circular states that motorcycles registered in one district cannot be driven in another. However, in case of logical and unavoidable need, the motorcycle can be ridden with the permission of the police. If someone comes for a movement pass for a logical reason, he will be given a pass. With the pass he will be able to go to his destination.

Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) said. Maruf Hossain Sardar told Jago News, “We will follow the BRTA policy.” We have the movement pass formatted. If anyone applies to us, we will pass.

Additional Superintendent of Highway Police (Operations and Media) said. Shamsul Alam Sarkar told Jago News that movement passes could be obtained from five regional superintendents of highway police and the concerned district police superintendents. No one will be allowed to walk on the highway without a pass.

How to get movement pass

If one wants to go to his district (e.g. Khulna / Jessore / Kushtia / Rajshahi) by motorbike from Dhaka, then the destination, route, reason of travel, date and time, registration number of the motorbike, number of riders and Movement pass must be taken with the rider’s mobile number. The approving officer will sign the movement pass. One copy will be kept by the rider, the other will be kept as an office copy at the concerned District Police Super Office.

Meanwhile, a quarterly crime review meeting of the police on Wednesday (July 7th) discussed restrictions on motorcycling.

It was said in the discussion meeting that the police will not stop the motorcyclists in the Eid procession if they show ‘logical reasons’. If necessary, they can also go home on a motorcycle with family members. Police officials believe that riding a motorcycle is a person’s personal right. This may cause anger in the minds of the people due to restrictions.

Several police officials said they did not think it was reasonable to know the reason for each motorcycle going home during Eid. If the road is closed for 1 to 2 minutes during the Eid procession, there is a risk of long traffic jam. From Thursday (July 6), there will be at least eight police checkpoints in Dhaka. There will also be traffic police.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) said. Munibar Rahman told Jago News that it is logical to stop long-distance motorcycle travel. However, it is a personal right of a person to ride a motorcycle. This may create controversy.

He said a man on a motorcycle may have to move for necessities. Usually many people can go out for emergency work with bikes. There may be illnesses, journalists may go out on motorcycles for their work, and emergency treatment may be required for people suffering from various diseases, including corona. One can even get out of the bike with an oxygen cylinder. But since the order has been made, we will follow the order.

‘But if someone can show a logical and satisfactory reason and if we think it is logical, then we must consider it. In order to implement the government order, a mobile court has to be set up. That is why we have asked the BRTA for an executive magistrate. Then I will be able to implement the matter logically and it will be acceptable to the people.

Asked if legal action would be taken against those who did not follow the instructions, the head of the traffic department said it was not legally a fault. We will restrain people.

Earlier on Sunday (July 3), Road Transport Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri said motorcycles could not be driven from one district to another for seven days before and after Eid. Ride sharing on the highway will also be closed. It will be in force from July 6 to July 13.

Every motorcycle will be stopped at the entrance of the capital from July 6 in compliance with the government directive. However, vehicles plying from the capital to any destination under the Dhaka district will be exempt from it.
