50th week of Idea Friday Mill: A source of contentment for the underprivileged

50 weeks ago today, a group of students decided to feed at least a few of the underprivileged. They are all members of Idea Samaj Kalyan Sansthan. Later the range started to increase. Suhrid, friends, common people joined. The project is opened. Named ‘Idea Friday Meal.’ Today Friday was his 50th week. On this day, programs were taken simultaneously in different districts of the country including Dhaka University, Jessore, Khagrachari. After Friday prayers, about 2000 underprivileged people were given tasty and quality food. After eating that food, they raised a sign of satisfaction. A happy smile appeared on the lips.

Idea Social Welfare Organization located in Khadki area of ​​Jessore district headquarters. Bangladesh Students and Entrepreneurs Group (WINI), another platform of Idea, implements this program today.

Mallika Afroz, executive head of Wini and a student of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) Department of Dhaka University said, ‘Today, the 50th week of Idea Friday Mill organized by the organization in Dhaka University area, Jessore, Khulna, Kushtia, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Tangail and Khagrachari and some other districts of the country. Food distribution program is undertaken. This year’s program has been implemented through Winnie Group. We are very happy to put delicious and quality food in the mouth of the underprivileged. When you see a smile on their face, it feels good.’

The underprivileged said, ‘We are happy for such work of the students.’ IDEA volunteers requested the media not to write their names. At this time many people have tears of joy in their eyes, many people have smiles on their lips.

Shahriar Yasmin Meem, coordinator of Idea Friday Meal and former president of Idea Social Welfare Organization, told NTV Online over the phone, ‘Every Friday, Idea volunteers deliver lunch to the underprivileged. The 50th week of Ekadhar ended today. Alhamdulillah, many are joining us in this effort to put a smile on the faces of the poor every Friday at this time. They celebrate the birthdays of their children and relatives by distributing food to the underprivileged on Fridays. Many have also joined this project on the death anniversary of a loved one. 35 per cent of the funding for running this project comes from dividends from IDEA Pitha Park, another division of student-run IDEA.
