The more I got to know Anu Bhai, the more I loved him. He led the street movement in the fight to protect oil, gas and energy resources. He has been bullied at various times, a few years ago the police beat him and broke his leg. He didn’t stop. He has been working tirelessly in every movement including labor rights, education rights, environment protection, people’s right to vote.
A great feature of Anu Muhammad is the unostentatious life. He has no greed for money, prestige, rewards, power – anything. His only meditation is human liberation, human rights. Many respectable people of our society cannot live as they say. Anu Bhai has managed that too.
A few days ago, while getting down from the train, Anu Muhammad met with an accident. After that, I was relieved to see people’s love and respect for him on social media. However, some people questioned why he went to get down at the unscheduled stop at Khilgaon. For them, the reason for stopping at an unspecified place is not the railway irregularities and corruption or even any of the many other serious injustices in the country, the only criticism is the mistake of Anu Muhammad getting off! Many well-known people of the society have written in response to this. They said, if he had lived a little self-centered life, he would not have had to travel tirelessly on the train, he would not have had an accident.
How true it is, I can understand from my own life. Many of our university teachers also work in consultancy or teaching in other universities (with permission) for some financial comfort. But Anu Bhai does not do it even though he is far ahead in qualifications. Fortunately for us, Anu Muhammad’s toe will be cured. It is very important. Because this foot is not only his, it is the foot of our conscience and patriotism.
