Dhaka: Bangladesh has participated in Tokyo’s IT Week. Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmad and Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority GSM Zafarullah inaugurated the Bangladesh Pavilion of the fair organized on April 24-26.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo informed this information on Friday (April 26).

At the fair, Bangladesh Embassy in collaboration with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), UNIDO ITPO Tokyo and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) organized a seminar titled ‘Digital Bangladesh: Your IT Destination’ at Tokyo Big Sight Seminar Hall.

Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmad in his speech at the seminar urged Japanese IT companies to come forward to invest in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director GSM Zafarullah, NDC, highlighted the benefits and potential of investing in high-tech parks in Bangladesh. JETRO Senior Director Yukihide Nakayama spoke about the business environment in Bangladesh. Masahiro Harikawa, CEO of BJIT Inc. shares his business experience in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Embassy Minister (Trade) Dr. Ariful Haque made a presentation on the support services provided by the Embassy to Japanese companies. On behalf of Basis, Rezwanur Kabir, CO, Destiny Inc. detailed the investment and business opportunities for Japanese companies in Bangladesh’s thriving IT sector.

Japan IT Week is one of Asia’s premier information technology events. This year, about 900 companies from 20 countries of the world participated in this fair. 17 Bangladeshi IT companies participated in Japan IT Week under the supervision of Hi-Tech Park Authority.

On the evening of April 26, Bangladesh Embassy organized an exchange and networking event titled ‘Promotion of Bangladesh IT and ITES Sector in Japan’ with the participation of visiting Bangladeshi exhibitors, Bangladeshi IT professionals living in Japan and embassy officials during the Japan IT Week.
