Suman Sheikh (16), a child artist who went viral on social media after singing songs by spitting money or coins on the table, died in Sirajganj. He died around 3:30 pm on Monday (May 1).
Sumon is the son of Al Amin Sheikh of village Khokshabari of Khokshabari Union of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.
Khokshabari Union Parishad UP Member of Ward No. 9. Sirajul Islam said, ‘Suman used to stay at his uncle’s house in Basharganti village of Bagbati union, which is near the same upazila. Today around 3:30 pm he fell ill and died on the way to the hospital where his family members took him.
Sirajganj 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, emergency department doctor Dr. Shamimul Islam said, he died before being brought to the hospital. His family said he had a history of seizures. He had a fever before he died. He was already sick and sang on top of his chest again. So it is assumed that he may have died because of that. The body has been handed over to his family.
Shahadat Hossain, a UP member of neighboring Ward No. 3, said that he was buried at Rahmatganj Municipal Cemetery in the city around 8:30 pm after his funeral prayers were completed later in the evening.
Incidentally, Suman Sheikh used to sing by throwing coins on the market table. Later he used to go to different districts and do stage programs.
