The US has imposed sanctions on three Indian companies for allegedly trading with Iran’s military and supplying drones. The 3 Indian companies are – Jane Shipping, Port India Pvt Ltd and Sea Art Ship Management (OPC) Pvt Ltd.
The ban was given on Thursday. More than 12 companies, individuals and ships were sanctioned during this time.
The US Department of the Treasury said these companies, individuals and vessels played a role in covertly selling and financing Iran’s unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Three Indian companies have been banned for trading with Iran’s military and supplying drones, media outlet NDTV reported.
According to a US Department of Treasury statement, Sahara Thunder is a large shipping network involved in the sale and shipment of Iranian goods to multiple countries, including China (PRC), Russia, on behalf of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.
Earlier this month, Israel attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria. Some of Iran’s top military officers were killed. In response to that attack, Iran launched 300 drones and missiles at Israel on the night of April 13. After that, the United States imposed the first round of sanctions on Iran. The ban was announced on April 19 targeting individuals and companies involved in the country’s drone technology and production.
According to a statement from the US Treasury Department, actions have been taken against 16 individuals and two companies associated with the production of UAVs or drones in Iran that were used in the attacks on Israel on April 13.
