Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to lower the signal. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of gale force over seaports, Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh. Fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to proceed with caution till Thursday evening.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours from this morning has said that there may be light to moderate rain with gusty winds or thundershowers at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions.


Also Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may have sporadic moderate heavy rainfall.

The Met Office said that the trend of rainfall will ease tomorrow on Friday and Saturday. Rainfall may increase slightly from next Sunday. According to the weather conditions for the next three days, the trend of rainfall may increase towards the end of this period.

Sylhet has received a maximum of 76 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 6 am today. Apart from this, 35 mm of rain has been received in Sandwip and 25 mm in Nikli. Meteorological office said that there was no rain in Dhaka at that time.

The forecast also said that the low pressure over East-Central Pradesh and its surrounding areas has coincided with the monsoon axis. The monsoon axis extends through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. An additional portion of it extends north-west to the Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere in northern Bay of Bengal.

Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Rajshahi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and Sylhet recorded a minimum of 24.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday. At this time, the maximum temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dhaka.

Wind is blowing from south or southeast direction in Dhaka today at a speed of 10 to 15 km per hour. The relative humidity of the air in Dhaka was 89 percent in the morning.
