The police recovered the body of Amit Das Shibu, the computer in-charge of the local newspaper ‘Dainik Uttarpurba’ in Sylhet.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh said that the body was recovered from the field next to the Hazaribag Daldali tea garden in the Shahi Eidgaon area of ​​the city’s airport police station around 2:30 am on Thursday.

The 36-year-old deceased is the son of Gaur Chand Das of Elengjuri village in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj. He lived in Narsingthila area of ​​the city with his wife and two children.

Colleagues of Amit Das said, like every day, Amit finished his newspaper work and left for home around 8:30 pm. If he did not reach home on time, his relatives started searching for him.

Amit’s body was recovered from the field near Daldali tea garden at around 2.30 am by the airport police station.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Azbahar Ali Sheikh went to the spot after receiving the news. He said, “The motorcycle was found with the key attached next to the body. However, Amit’s mobile phone was not found. The last location of the mobile is shown on the spot.

“No injury marks were found on the body. Still, the police are investigating the incident as mysterious.”

Message editor of ‘Dainik Uttarpurba’ newspaper. Fakhrul Islam said, “The incident is unacceptable. I demand that law and order forces and the concerned parties investigate the incident properly and unravel the mystery.”

“Amit’s body was cremated at Chalibandar crematorium in the city after legal proceedings on Friday afternoon. We will stand by his family.”
