Sifat (19), a student of Shivpur Government Shaheed Asad College, was in love with Tanhar (15), daughter of Khalil Mia of the same village and an eighth-grade student of a local madrasa. The deceased Sifat is the son of Ibrahim of that village.
Raju’s son Angur (25) from the neighboring area saw the scene of Tanha talking from inside the house and Sifat standing in front of the window at around two o’clock on April 3. At this time, Angur gave Tanha a bad proposal. Sifat forbids it. Angur beat up Sifat and demanded a huge amount of money for not agreeing to the bad proposal. Sifat got excited and injured the grape by cutting it. A case has also been filed in Shivpur police station in this incident. Fearing public shame, Tanha committed suicide by hanging herself in her house on the night of April 6, three days after this incident.
Sifat’s father Ibrahim said, after Tanha’s death, there was supposed to be a village arbitration court on this incident. My son Sifat could not bear the mental pressure due to various insults to me and my son in Salish Durbar and committed suicide by hanging himself in the house on the night of April 25, about 20 days after Tanha’s death.
Before his death, Sifat wrote in his last status on Facebook, Tanha proved how much she loved me by committing suicide. I will also prove to you how much I love you. He also wrote, I am a victim of circumstances. Neither her family nor my family is responsible for anything I do. None of my brothers or friends are responsible. Whatever will happen will be of my own will. Honestly, I don’t want to live anymore. Even if someone saves me, I will try to commit suicide again and again. Please don’t anyone try to save me, what will happen if I live. The one he was supposed to live for is no more.
The OC of Shibpur Model Police Station confirmed the matter. Farid Uddin said, the body was recovered and sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The actual cause of suicide will be known after the post-mortem report and investigation.
