Zoo worker injured in horn butt while feeding deer, undergoes surgery at hospital

New Town: An employee was seriously injured by the butt of the deer’s antlers. The accident happened while feeding the deer at the New Town Mini Zoo. He was taken to a local private hospital with serious injuries.

Prasad Burman, an employee of the ‘mini zoo’ near Ecopark in New Town, was seriously injured by a deer’s horn. According to zoo sources, that person went to feed the deer as usual that day. Suddenly a deer gores the man with its horns. The man was taken to a private hospital with serious injuries. He underwent surgery there. According to hospital authorities, Prasad Burman’s condition is stable for now.

New Town Mini Zoo was recently inaugurated by State Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick. The accident happened only three and a half months after the inauguration. The zoo authority built this antelope on the land provided by Hidco in 2016 next to Gate No. 6 near the Ecopark of New Town. Later, the authorities took the initiative to make a mini zoo to relieve the boredom of the visitors visiting Ecopark. Similarly, different types of birds, crocodiles and multiple species of deer, zebra, giraffe have come here. Tigers and lions are also expected to be brought here in the coming days.
