Miscreants killed a young man named Ashok Mondal (35) by slitting his throat at his house late at night in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj.

The incident took place in Jathia village of the upazila on Sunday (April 21) night. The murdered youth is the son of deceased Kalachand Mandal of Jathia village of Ashok Mandal upazila.

Ashok Mondal’s mother Urmila Mondal said, I fell asleep around 10 o’clock on the night of the incident. At that time I saw my elder son Ashok and younger son Asim Mandal watching TV. Then suddenly I was woken up by the screams of the younger son Asim Mandalal. Then my younger son Asim was screaming holding Ashok’s throat cut body on the balcony of the house. We then left for Ashok to take him to the hospital and he died as soon as he left the room.

Harichand Mondal, businessman of Tarashi village, said, Ashok Mondal is my cousin. He was a simple man. But sometimes he was a little drunk. As far as I know he has no sex.

OC of Kotalipara Police Station Muhammad Feroz Alam said, We have already started an investigation into the murder of Ashok Mandal. We hope that soon we will be able to find out the real reason behind this murder.

Meanwhile, Ashok Mondal’s body has been sent to Gopalganj morgue for post-mortem, said this police officer.
