Bollywood’s popular comedian Raju Srivastava (58) passed away. He was under treatment in the hospital for about one and a half months.

He breathed his last at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi at 10:30 am on Wednesday (September 21).

Raju’s brother Deepu confirmed the news to the Indian media Indian Express, saying, ‘He (Raju) died on Wednesday morning, his daughter Antara told me. ‘

Raju’s death has cast a shadow of mourning on Bollywood and Indian television. Many people including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed their condolences.

Raju went to Delhi from Mumbai to meet political leaders. On August 10, Raju Srivastava suffered a heart attack while exercising in a gym there. After that he was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. He was on ventilation for a long time. But in the end, the life of the magician of laughter was not saved.

Raju Srivastava was born on 25 December 1963 in Kanpur. Father Rameshchandra Srivastava was a famous poet of Kanpur. He named his son Satyaprakash Srivastava. But everyone called him Raju. He could imitate people he knew from childhood. He could make anyone laugh in any way he could. Raju dreamed of becoming a comedian.

Raju moved to Mumbai due to the pull of Bollywood. He did not get a chance in the cinema in the early eighties. In 1988, he acted in a small role in the movie ‘Tezab’. He was also in the movie ‘Mayane Pyaar Kiya’. Since then, Raju has appeared in supporting roles in many movies.

But he was more popular on stage. Raju became the runner-up of the show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’. His sense of humor spread far and wide. He became very popular.
