The meeting was held with the participation of stakeholders as part of the National Cleanliness Plan to encourage concerted efforts by all to improve fire safety and to further facilitate the service work of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department.
The meeting was held today in the conference room of the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense. Director of Directorate (Administration and Finance) Joint Secretary Md. Wahidul Islam presided over it.
The meeting was attended by the Director (Operation and Maintenance), Deputy Secretary of Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs and senior officials of the Directorate. Representatives of 20 organizations including BGMEA, BKMEA, Dhaka South and North City Corporation, media, Rajuk, WASA, Directorate of Disaster Management participated.
The director of the Directorate (Operation and Maintenance) Lt. gave the opening speech at the meeting which started at 10 am with the participation of the participants. Colonel Zillur Rahman. In the meeting, everyone was informed, the director general of the department, Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin could not attend as he was busy with important state work.
Zahidul Islam, Deputy Secretary of Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, in his speech, thanked the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense on behalf of the Security Services Department for such an arrangement.
He said such programs to improve the quality of services are a part of the national cleanliness drive of the government. He requested everyone to participate in open discussion and give their valuable views.
The participants of the event took part in an open discussion appreciating the current service of the Fire Service and Civil Defense. They requested to hold such meetings at regular intervals and to call the representatives of all sectors periodically. They gave various suggestions aimed at making fire service and civil defense activities more public oriented to increase fire safety in the country.
Notable among these are: mass communication-exercise-training and inspection etc. to strengthen the awareness raising activities, take legal action and strengthen monitoring on fire safety law violators etc.
The Director (Administration & Finance) presided over the open discussion session and answered various information, opinions and questions sought by all. At this time, other officials helped him.
