Gazipur’s Tongi Milgate cotton warehouse has suffered a terrible fire. The incident happened on Thursday morning. 9 warehouses were burnt to ashes in the fire.

On receiving information, three units of Tongi fire brigade reached the spot and brought the fire under control at 9:30 am. The warehouse owners claim that there has been damage of around 50 lakh rupees.

Eyewitnesses said that around 7:30 in the morning, a fire broke out from the cotton warehouse of Akhtar Munsi in the area. Soon the flames spread to the neighboring warehouses of Haji Zainal Abedin and Milon Mia. On receiving information, three units of Tongi Fire Brigade reached the spot and started working to control the fire. By that time, 6 cotton warehouses of Akhtar Munsi, 2 of Haji Zainal Abedin and 1 of Milan Mia and the machinery stored in them were burnt to ashes.

When contacted in this regard, the senior officer of Tongi fire brigade, Sajedul Kabir Joryadar said, three units have reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Now dumping is going on. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage can be said subject to investigation.
