ARLINGTON, Texas — Starting shortstop Justice Crawford was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday due to a right oblique strain.

The move came a day after Crawford suffered an oblique sprain during batting practice, sidelining him against the Mariners. Lost 5-1 to existing Texas.

“I don’t have a timetable for JP,” manager Scott Servais said. “We will evaluate things as they progress. We hope to get him back as soon as possible.”

Dylan Moore is the starting shortstop in Thursday’s series finale against the Rangers.

Seattle drafted infielder Leo Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma. Rivas, 26, has played in 665 games over nine minor league seasons and is seeking his major league debut.

To make the 40-man roster, Mariners moved right-hander Gregory Santos (L) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Crawford got off to a slow start, hitting .198 with two homers and nine RBIs in his first 22 games.
