According to recent reports, Apple is developing a new iPad Air model that will come in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes. Yang said Apple plans to use leftover Mini LED panels from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model in the upcoming larger iPad Air model. Previous reports have claimed that the company’s next-generation iPad Pro model will be equipped with an OLED screen for the first time.
While this means the larger iPad Air (6th generation) model will likely get a major display upgrade, it’s unclear whether the 10.9-inch model will come with an IPS LCD screen. That’s because Apple’s smaller iPad Pro model is slightly larger with an 11-inch screen.
The company may also increase the display size of the smaller iPad Air to reuse leftover mini LED panels, but we won’t know more about its specs until the company launches the next iPad model.
This year’s iPad Air models are also expected to debut landscape cameras, allowing users to make video calls when the iPad is held horizontally, unlike previous models. Apple is expected to launch new iPad Air and iPad Pro models in May, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
