Tangail: An old man named Ghatak Abdul Jalil (60) was hacked to death after his wife left him after a year of marriage in Tangail’s Ghatail.
The incident took place in Manaji village of Digar union of the upazila on Thursday (September 22) afternoon.
The deceased Abdul Jalil is the son of deceased Asan Ali of that area. He worked as an employee in an electronics store.
Police and locals said that the deceased Abdul Jalil used to work as a blacksmith. Saw-mill workers of the same village. He was the catalyst of Almas (20) marriage. He has been married for almost a year. Six months ago Almas wife went to her father’s house due to lack of marriage.
Jalil was sitting on a chair inside the house and talking with Rahatan Bewa, the grandmother of Almas, on Thursday afternoon. Seeing him, Almas took Da from another room and hit him on the head and neck. Jalil died on the spot. Almas later ran away. Almas committed this crime out of anger for leaving his wife.
Since the incident, Almas along with his family members are absconding. He is the son of Shahidul Islam of that village.
Ghatail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azharul Islam Sarkar told BanglaNews that it is initially believed that Ghatak Jalil was hacked to death in anger and rage as his wife left. The case is being prepared in this case.
