A teenager has been accused of killing Shilpi Akhter (27) a housewife with a sharp stick in Gacha police station area of Gazipur. The teenager named Arafat (13) is the housewife’s stepson. On Wednesday (April 24), Arafat hit the housewives artist on the throat with a sharp stick while she was sleeping and ran away, it has been alleged. Later he was rescued and brought to Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) hospital in a serious condition. He died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.
The inspector in charge of DMK Hospital police outpost confirmed the truth. Bachchu Mia said, the body of the deceased has been kept at the DMK morgue. Gacha Police Station is aware of the matter. He also said that the Gacha police station is investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, hearing the news of the artist’s death, his brother Shahabuddin rushed to his hospital. He said, the artist’s husband’s name is Mizanur Rahman, a grocer. She was the second wife. From what I have heard, Mizan has two sons from his divorced first wife, Arafat (13) and Adnan (9). Among them, the elder son (step son) Arafat hit the artist on the neck with a sharp stick while he was sleeping and escaped with bloody injuries. Others rescued him while injured and first took him to the local Teherunnessa hospital. Later, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital for advanced treatment. He later died while undergoing treatment there.
She alleged that the artist’s husband was also involved in her murder. Since this incident, the people of the artist’s husband’s house have all fled.
The deceased artist is the daughter of Chandu Sheikh of Kutarkanda village of Sherpur Sadar Upazila. Mizan’s first wife did not get along, and they divorced, leaving behind two sons. Later, Mizanur Rahman got married in a relationship with the artist. The artist previously worked in a garment factory. After marriage, she lived in her husband’s house.
