The government will sell rice at 30 taka and flour at 18 taka per kg in the upazila level through dealers in 2 thousand 363 centers from today Thursday (September 1).
On Wednesday (August 31), the public relations officer of the Ministry of Food said. Kamal Hossain told the media that Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder will inaugurate the OMS program in Azimpur on Thursday.
Further expanding the ongoing OMS program through dealers in 811 centers across the country, the government has appointed dealers in 2 thousand 363 centers. Meanwhile, rice will be sold in all centers. And flour will be sold in 403 centers.
A total of 50 lakh 10 thousand 509 families will be given 30 kg of rice at the rate of Tk 15 per kg in the food friendly program. This program is conducted for 5 months in September, October, November, March, April. The number of dealers across the country is 10 thousand 110 people. TCB family card holders can come to the OMS center and stand in a separate line to buy rice.
Recently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that TCB card holders will get 10kg of rice at a fair price like OMS. In that context, rice will be given on priority basis to TCB card holders in OMS program.
Apart from this, 30 kg of rice will be given to 50 lakh 10 thousand 509 marginalized families at the rate of Tk 15 per kg at the union level across the country under the food friendly programme.
Earlier, on Tuesday (August 30), Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar said that if the beneficiaries of OMS and food friendly programs do not buy rice in the market, the price of rice will naturally come down.
