The body of missing revenue officer Abdullah Hill Kafir (40) has been recovered from the ferry pontoon in Pirojpur’s Bekutia.
After 40 hours on Saturday (September 3) at 12 noon, the fire service recovered the body from the raw river in South Gazipur area of Sadar Upazila. Pirojpur Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Samsujjoha confirmed the matter.
Abdullah Hill Kafi was the assistant revenue officer of Satkhira-2 region. His house is in Char Tikia village of Deula union of Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola.
Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AJM Masuduzzaman said that Kafi was going to Barisal from Satkhira last Thursday. At around 8:30 pm, he got off at Bekutia Ferry Ghat in Pirojpur and lost his footing while talking on his mobile phone and fell into the river and went missing.
At 12 noon today, the people of South Gazipur area saw the body floating and informed the fire service. Divers later recovered the body.
Kafi’s private car driver. Ibrahim said, ‘I was going to Barisal from Satkhira on Thursday with sir. After celebrating Sir’s birthday in Barisal, they were supposed to go to their Indira Road residence in Dhaka on Friday. But in the meantime, an accident happened. Sir’s mother and other relatives have left for Bekutia after receiving the news of the recovery of the body.’
He also said, ‘I have been with Sir for almost five years. Sir was a very good person. Her only sister Priyanka lives in Australia. He is supposed to come to the country today.’
