The court sentenced two people including his lover Shabnur to life imprisonment in the case of murder of Aybur Rahman Khokon alias Akash (19) in Rupganj of Narayanganj. At the same time, he was sentenced to another six months’ imprisonment without payment of a fine of Tk 50,000.
Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Munshi Md. on Wednesday afternoon. Moshiar Rahman announced the verdict. At that time, the accused were present in the court.
The convicts are Jannati Begum Shabnoor, daughter of Jitu Mia of Chhota Bahula village of Habiganj district and Siddique Ali, son of Fidar Ali of Dakshin Tegharia village of the same district.
Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman said the convicts have been sent to jail.
The investigating officer of the case, Rupganj police station SI Abdullah Al Maruf said that the convict Siddique Ali lent 20 thousand taka to Nazrul of the same village. Nazrul went abroad with this money. Nazrul’s brother Aybur Rahman planned to kill Khokon alias Aakash (19) as he did not get the money despite repeated requests.
He said, according to the plan, Shabnur was given the responsibility of killing. Siddiq Ali told Shabnoor, ‘You don’t have to do any work. I will make you home. Akash must be killed in return.’ After that, Shabnoor developed a love relationship with Akash. The two rented a house as husband and wife in Barab area of Rupganj, Narayanganj. In this house on April 4, 2021, Shabnoor escaped by mixing intoxicants with food and killing Akash by hanging him unconscious. In this incident, the police filed a case against the unknown accused as the plaintiff.
The investigation officer also said that four people were involved in the murder. Sabina and Suman are two of them younger. As they are minors, they will be tried in the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal.
