Today is the 62nd death anniversary of Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque

The 62nd death anniversary of undivided Bengal Chief Minister Shere Bangla AK Fazlul Haque is today Saturday (April 27). Various social, political and cultural organizations have taken elaborate programs on the occasion of the death anniversary. The program includes laying of wreaths at Sher Bengali’s grave and reading of Fateha and discussion meeting.

On the occasion of the 62nd death anniversary of this national leader, Awami League will pay respects at the tomb of Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque at 8 o’clock in the morning today and pray for the forgiveness of his soul.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque’s death anniversary, Barisal Division Association has organized a discussion meeting and doa mahfil. This discussion program and doa mahfil will be held in the VIP room of Motijheel Kitchen Yard Party Center today at 4 pm on Saturday.

Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Md. will attend the discussion program as the chief guest. Nizamul Haque Nasim. President of the association Bir Muktijoddha will preside over the event. Ziaul Kabir Dulu.

Sher Bangla died on April 27, 1962 in Dhaka. He also holds an important place in the pages of history as a living legend of educationist and communal harmony.

Shere Bangla AK Fazlul Haque was born on 26th October 1873 in the Miya house of Saturia village, Rajapur, Jhalkathi district. In his illustrious political career, he served as the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal, the Home Minister of the Central Government of Pakistan, the Governor of East Pakistan, the Chief Minister of the United Front Government, the first Muslim Mayor of Calcutta City Corporation and a member of the Legislative Assembly.

AK Fazlul Haque contributed to the anti-British movement in Shere Bangla. In 1940 he proposed the historic Lahore proposal. He was also the author of 21 point demand.
