The current term government of Awami League was sworn in on January 11, thus April 21 marks the completion of 100 days. Awami League came to power for the fourth consecutive term in the country. Although there was no program announced by the government for the first 100 days, there were several initiatives. One of these is – price control, transparency in the financial sector, building a people-friendly administration, establishing the rule of law and protecting civil rights. Observers say that many of these initiatives have met with desired success.

Eid gift of the poor

On the occasion of Eid, sarees, lungis and Punjabis have been distributed among the needy people from the Prime Minister’s relief fund. Distribution of 10 kg of rice to each family as an Eid gift from the Directorate of Disaster Management is underway. The representatives also gave gifts to the needy people of their constituencies. Seven types of materials have been given to the poor people from the Prime Minister’s relief fund through 300 parliamentarians of the country. These are sarees, three-pieces, punjabi, shirts, pants, lungis and various types of clothing.

Various measures to control the market of daily commodities during fasting

During the 100 days of the current government, market control of daily commodities during Ramadan was a big challenge. The month of Ramadan has passed in a slow manner due to various steps taken by the government. Prices of local seasonal fruits including vegetables, onions and fruits were on the downward trend. Watermelon prices fell drastically. Prices of rice, edible oil, sugar, wheat and flour remained unchanged. Apart from cumin, the prices of some spices like desi onion, desi garlic, dry chillies, turmeric were also low.

‘Almost 6 lakh people’ buy cheap milk, eggs, meat during fasting

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has sold milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices in 35 districts including Dhaka during fasting. According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, about six lakh people bought these products. These products are sold in 35 districts. A total of five lakh 91 thousand 971 people bought milk, eggs and meat at cheap prices from the day of inauguration to 27 Roja.

New law to bring order to the health sector

There is no 100-day plan in the Ministry of Health. Health Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen said, ‘100 days is a very short time for the health sector. Not even 100 hospitals have been visited so far. However, we are working to improve the quality of healthcare in remote areas and restore order in private hospitals. There is a plan to set the price of the service. Work is ongoing to close illegal hospitals. Initiatives have been taken to decentralize services. He said that the main goal is to improve the quality of health care and make the health sector free from corruption.

Corruption free smart land management

To implement corruption-free land management, land corruption information is being collected through Ministry of Lands hotline 16122, Facebook, website and government hotline 333. Lands Minister Narayan Chandra Chand is working on priority to implement corruption-free land management. For this purpose he is visiting Aceland Office, Union Land Office. In the meantime, Dhanmondi and Lalbagh Aceland offices in Dhaka have been visited. 16 districts, 32 upazilas, 64 union land offices of the country have been brought under the 100 day plan. Verification of land owners at the district level, registration at the upazila level and collection of land development tax at the union level is being ensured.

The government wants to sign a free trade agreement with China

Bangladesh wants to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with China within this period to face the challenge of transitioning from the LDC list in 2026. For this purpose, the two countries jointly exchanged the draft feasibility study report on March 28. Before this, a joint study program was started with the aim of signing an FTA with Japan in December. Similarly, the Ministry of Commerce is working with other countries to advance such activities.

Powerful states try to strengthen relations

After the last January 7 vote, the powerful countries have spoken to advance relations with Bangladesh. This includes the United States, the most active country in the twelfth parliamentary elections. The message to advance the relationship between the two countries came from the country’s president, Joe Biden. Immediately after the election, the Vice Minister of the Communist Party of China visited Dhaka to strengthen relations. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the Munich Security Conference in Germany after the formation of the new government. In the first 100 days, important people including the Foreign Minister of Brazil, the Princess of Sweden, the Minister of Commerce of Ireland, the King of Bhutan, the Foreign Minister of Ghana, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia of the US State Department visited Bangladesh. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh participated in bilateral and multilateral forum meetings in various countries including India.

Finalization of sending workers to Qatar, Jordan and Mauritius

Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment. Ruhul Amin told Samakal that the Expatriate Welfare Ministry has done a lot of work in the first 100 days of the government. In the first three months of this government, 700 million dollars more remittances came than the same period last year. The issue of sending workers to Qatar, Jordan and Mauritius is almost final. The migration of workers to Russia is also almost certain within the new labor market. Garment workers will go to Korea and Jordan. The nurse will go to Kuwait. Talk is going on. Workers will also go to Dubai, which is closed. The major task of this ministry is to build skilled labor population, it has been strengthened.

Various measures to control air pollution

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury is taking suggestions from stakeholders to stop air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution, plastic-polythene pollution and hill cutting. He is trying to ensure transparency and accountability in the activities of the ministry. The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change is taking various steps to control air pollution in Dhaka, which ranks first in the global air pollution index. The minister announced to issue an alert if the air pollution level goes above 250. For two and a half months, there is daily information about air pollution on the website of the Department of Environment.

FDC ramp of Dhaka Elevated Expressway is open

In the first 100 days of the government, several new initiatives and plans were taken in the bridge department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. Secretary of this department Manjur Hossain told Samakal on Saturday that the ramp near the FDC gate of the elevated expressway has been opened in the last 100 days. From Elenga to the eastern side of Bangabandhu Bridge, the 4 km road has been made four-lane. The lower section of BRT up to Boardbazar has also been launched. A total of three lanes have been made by introducing two new lanes on the three kilometer road from Dhaka EPZ. Due to these reasons, the Eid journey has become easier. At this time some other plans have been adopted, the benefits of which will be seen in the future.

Master plan for the development of Cox’s Bazar

Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. Nabirul Islam told Samakal that in the first 100 days of the government, under the master plan project of Cox’s Bazar Development Authority, expert opinions were collected by collecting data and GIS data. Apart from that, after the completion of the first phase of the passenger canopies and sculptures under construction at Maheshkhali, the second phase of the work has started.
