Eyewitnesses said that the light was seen in the eastern part of the sky between 5:50 pm and 6:00 pm on Thursday. They also said that the light lasted for a few minutes in the sky. It looked a bit like a searchlight. Many have claimed that the light has also been seen running in a certain direction. The light can be seen from different places of North Bengal including Bankura, two Medinipur, two 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly. Eyewitnesses also said that the light was not blinding. But that light was also quite clear.

A mystery surrounds this light. According to astronomer Sandeep Chakraborty, this light can have 3 causes. He said that the light was seen in the southern part of the sky. According to him, first of all this light could be caused by a meteorite. He said, “Now there is a meteor shower. But it is not in the evening but around 12 pm. But, it looks like the size of the light is a bit big. I’m pretty sure it’s not a Geminid shower.”

According to him, “It could be a part of a rocket.” He said the light appeared to have passed over the Bay of Bengal. He also said, “Looks like a rocket has run out of fuel. A small part of it is coming towards the earth. The smaller the part, the brighter its light.”

Sandeep also mentioned a third possibility. According to him, “The missile may have been tested from somewhere. According to him, if it is a missile, then the light should be visible for a long time before disappearing in the direction. As a result, there is a mystery surrounding the source of light, like Sandeep.
