Dhaka: A laborer named Shaukat Hossain (34) died after being electrocuted in an under-construction building at Bansree in Rampura of the capital.

The incident took place on Wednesday (September 21) around 8:30 am in an under-construction building on Bansree No. 4 Road.

When he was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a daze, the doctor declared him dead at around 3 pm.

Rampura Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Kamrul Haque Jihan confirmed the death and said that deceased Shaukat worked as a mason in that building. In the morning, he was working on plastering the walls on the outside of the third floor of the building. Shaukat got electrocuted when the iron chisel in his hand touched the electric wire and got seriously injured.

SI also said that Shaukat was first taken to Faraji Hospital with serious injuries. If the condition worsened there, they were brought to Dhaka Medical.

SI said that deceased Shaukat Khilgao lived in Sipahibagh area. Father’s name is Shahadat Hossain. The body has been kept in the morgue for post-mortem.
