The importance of calling to the path of Allah

Allah gave prophethood to Rabbul ‘Alamin Muhammad SAW at the age of forty. Muhammad sa. For the first three years, he continued to invite Deen silently and secretly. After the order to give public Da’wat, Muhammad SAW. Openly began to preach religion. The polytheists continued to oppose him by propagating jokes, insults, threats and falsehoods. Despite the opposition of the polytheists, truth-seeking people began to join the caravan of believers one by one. This made the pagan power even more angry. From the fifth year of the Prophethood, the level of physical torture increased. At one point, the situation became so critical that a large number of believers left their homes, businesses, sheep, horses, camels, etc. and migrated to Ethiopia. And the lives of those who remained in Makkah became miserable.

In the 6th year of the Prophethood, nine of the ten tribes of Quraish signed a pact of boycott against Banu Hashim. It was decided that this boycott agreement would remain in force until Muhammad SAW was handed over to them to kill. In order to avoid direct conflict, the believers led by Abu Talib, Banu Hashim and Muhammad SAW, pitched tents and stayed at a place called Abu Talib in Shia. This situation continued for three years. Finally, by the grace of God, Muhammad SAW, the believers and Banu Hashim were freed from this blockade by the initiative of some conscientious Quraish youths. However, the level of opposition remains the same. Life in Makkah became almost impossible for the believers. One of the Surahs revealed during this period is Surah An Nahal. In Surah An-Nahl Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin has laid down the method of giving Da’wat in very clear terms. Allah Rabbul Alamin advises the believers about the practical method of calling people to the path of Allah, ‘Call people to the path of your Lord with wisdom and good speech. And exchange words with them with the best arguments. Surely your Lord knows best who has gone astray from Him and He knows best who is on the right path.’ [সূরা আন-নহল : ১২৫]

Meaning of Da’wah
The word da’wah comes from the Arabic word. Its literal meaning is to call, invite, call, ask for help, promote, request, etc. [লিসানুল আরব] Another meaning is to inspire, encourage, etc. In this context, the Holy Qur’an says: ‘He (Yusuf) said, ‘O my Lord, prison is dearer to me than what they call me to do.’ [সূরা ইউসুফ : ৩৩] Da’wah is the name of personal and collective material methods and techniques to call people to a specific path, opinion and ideology and show them the way to practice it in real life. To speak in the way of God The Da’wah or call that invites people to the way of life given by His Lord is Da’wah in the way of God. It refers to the call to the Oneness and Sovereignty of Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin and the activities aimed at fully accepting and implementing the only system of life given by Him, Deen Islam.

Ad-da’watu il-Allah is directly commanded in various places in Al-Qur’an. The first instruction about this comes in the 2nd and 3rd verses of Surah Al-Muddassir. Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin, addressing Muhammad SAW in two verses, says, ‘Arise, warn the people. Reveal the greatness of your Lord, establish it.’ Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin also said, ‘Say to them, this is my way that I call people to Allah.’ [সূরা ইউসুফ : ১০৮]

Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin also says, ‘Call the people to your Lord.’ [সূরা আল মা-য়িদাহ : ৬৭] Referring to the words used to call people to Allah as the best words, Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin said, ‘Whose speech is better than the words of the one who calls people to Allah, performs Amaluch Salih and says, Verily I am one of the Muslims.’ [সূরা হামিমুস সাজদাহ : ৩৩]

Narrated by Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr (RA) that the Prophet SAW. He said, ‘Even if you have a message from me, preach it. Narrate from the Banu Isra’il (of what transpired among them), there is no difficulty in that, and whoever willfully tells a lie in my name will surely make his abode in Hell’. [সহিহুল বুখারি]

Contents of the summons
Throughout the ages, the prophets and messengers. The common call was to avoid taghut and bring people to the worship and obedience of Allah and to invite people to the way of life given by his Lord. For example: It is said: ‘And We have certainly sent a Messenger to every nation, that you should worship Allah and avoid Taghut.’ [সূরা আন-নহল : ৩৬]

Ibrahim A. was sent to Ur Empire in ancient Iraq. He addressed his people and said, ‘Worship Allah and fear Him. It is better for you if you understand it.’ [সূর ‘আনকাবূত-১৬]

Hud was sent to the noble nation of Ad in ancient Arabia. He addressed his people and said, ‘O my people, worship Allah. You have no god but Him.’ [সূরা আল ‘আনকাবূত-১৬] Salih was sent to the people of Thamud. He addressed his people and said, ‘O my people, worship Allah. You have no god but Him.’ [সূরা হূদ – ৬১] The Midianites lived in Tabuk and the surrounding area in ancient Arabia. Shuaib was sent to them. He addressed his people and said, ‘O my people, worship Allah. You have no god but Him.’ [সূরা হূদ -৮৪]

Yusuf A. was a noble son of Yaqub A. who lived in Canaan or Palestine. A victim of a plot by jealous brothers, he was thrown into a well in a deserted desert. A merchant caravan took him out of the well and sold him to a prominent man in Egypt. Thrown into prison by the conspiracy of the nobleman’s wife. Already Yusuf A. Received prophethood. He started preaching among the prison inmates.

In a speech given to the prisoners, he said, ‘Sovereignty belongs to none but Allah. His order: Do not worship anyone except Him. This is a strong lifestyle. But most people don’t know that.’ [সূরা ইউসুফ- ৪০]

Musa ibn Imran was sent to Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. He continued to preach the Deen to the Egyptians and Pharaoh. In a speech given in front of Pharaoh, he said, ‘Deliver the servants of Allah to me. I am sent to you as a faithful messenger. Do not assert your superiority over Allah. I present before you a clear document.’ [সূরা আদ্ দুখান-১৮, ১৯] Isa ibn Maryam appeared in Palestine. He addressed his people and said, ‘Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord too. So worship Him alone. This is the simple-right way.’ [সূরা মারইয়াম -৩৬]

The Importance of Giving Da’wat
As the mentioned verse (125 of Surah An-Nahl) describes the special dignity and merit of Da’awati work, similarly in other verses of Al-Qur’an Allah Almighty says: ‘And there should be a group among you who call to goodness and enjoin good deeds and Forbid evil deeds and they are the successful ones’. [আল-‘ইমরান : ১০৪]

Allah Ta’ala also says: ‘You are the best Ummah, you have been created for the welfare of mankind, you enjoin good deeds and forbid evil deeds and believe in Allah’. [সূরা আলে-ইমরান : ১১০] Ummul Mu’minin ‘Aisha RA. Said: I heard the Messenger of God say: ‘O mankind! Allah says: Enjoin the good and forbid the wrong, before the time comes when you call on Me and I will not answer your call, ask Me but I will not give it to you and you will ask for help from Me. I will not help you’. [মুসনাদ আহমাদ]

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri RA. Narrated from, the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘If any of you sees a wrongdoing, let him change it with his hand. If he is not able to do that, then he should change it with his tongue, and if that is not possible, then he should change it with his heart, and this is the weakest faith.’ [সহীহ মুসলিম]

Abu Mas’ud Uqba Ibn Amr Al Ansari RA. It was narrated from Muhammad that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Whoever shows a good path, that person will be rewarded as much as the one who does it.’ [সহিহ মুসলিম] Abu Huraira RA. On the authority of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Whoever calls someone to the path of guidance, for him there is a reward similar to that of a follower of that path.’ [সহিহ মুসলিম] Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri RA. It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘Beware of sitting by the side of the road! They said: O Messenger of Allah! We have no choice but to sit in the meeting, we talk there. He said: If you want to sit, then you will demand the right of way. They said: What is the right of way? He said: Controlling the gaze, removing painful things, replying to salam, enjoining good deeds and forbidding wrongdoing’. [সহিহ মুসলিম]

Duties of the debtor
A Da’eer must be devoted, faithful and a full follower of the ideals he preaches. He must first of all establish the ideals of da’wah in all areas and aspects of his personal life. Allah Ta’ala said: ‘O believers, why do you say that which you do not do? Saying what you do not do is a matter of great wrath to Allah.’ [সূরা আস-সফ : ২-৩] A Da’ee Ilallah will present the complete Islam to the people. Highlighting particular parts of Islam and concealing particular parts is wrong. Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin said, ‘Who can be more unjust than he who has a testimony from Allah, and he conceals it?’ [সূরা আল-বাকারা : ১৪০]

Allah Rabbul ‘Alamin also says, ‘Lest you omit from presenting some part of what is revealed to you and your mind narrows in all these campaigns as to why no wealth has been revealed to this person or anything with it. Why didn’t the angel come? You are only a warner. And Allah is the ruler of all things. [সূরা হূদ : ১২]

closing
Call people to the path of Allah with wisdom-intelligence-prudence. Call people to the path of Allah by presenting beautiful speeches and presenting the best arguments. The common call of the Prophets (peace be upon them) was to bring people to the worship and obedience of Allah. As the best ummah, we must call people to the path of Allah for the welfare of mankind. A Da’eer must be devoted, faithful and a full follower of the ideals he preaches. He must first of all establish the ideals of da’wah in all areas and aspects of his personal life. Obtaining guidance is dependent on the individual’s interest on the one hand, and Allah’s grace on the other. The Da’ee’s duty is to continue the work of Da’wa continuously according to the instructions of Allah. May Allah Ta’ala grant us all Tawfiq to do the work of Ad Da’watu Ilallah in all circumstances. Amen.
