Shibpur village is now silent in mourning due to the death of 9 people in Ullapara of Sirajganj due to lightning on Thursday. Among them, 5 people died from the same family. Shanti Khatun of Shibpur village has lost her husband, children, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandson. He bursts into tears again and again.
Shanti Khatun, the wife of Shamser Ali, who was killed by lightning, is seen repeatedly fainting from tears in Shibpur village. This woman lost not only her husband but also her son Shaheen, daughter-in-law Mokam Hossain, grandson Monnaf Hossain and Debor Afsar Ali. Another child of this old lady is injured in the same incident and is in the hospital.
The heart-rending incident in which five members of the same family were killed casts a shadow of grief across the village. Men and women from different villages are coming to offer condolences. They are also shedding tears. The whole village is in mourning.
Burial of 9 agricultural workers killed by lightning has been completed. On Thursday night, 5 people were buried in Shibpur and 4 in Matikora of the upazila.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament of Sirajganj-4 (Ullapara) Constituency Tanveer Imam visited the two villages of the deceased. He also provided financial support to the families of the victims. Apart from this, financial assistance of 25 thousand taka has been given to the families of the victims by the upazila administration.
Five members of the same family were killed by lightning while working in the field of Matikora village of Panchkroshi union of Ullapara upazila around 4 pm on Thursday. At least 9 people were injured during this time. 4 others died after taking the injured to the hospital.
