The petition requested the High Court to direct the jail authorities concerned to explain their stand on the death in prison.

Citing the petition, Qaiser Kamal told reporters that thousands of people have been arrested for agitating for democracy and rule of law in the courts in the past few months.

Stating that there is no precedent for the death of so many people in prison in such a short period of time, he said that those who died in prison were healthy while in custody.

Kaiser Kamal said the hearing will be held if the writ petition is included in the cause list.
