A person fell ill after having lunch in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat and died.

A spokesman said he died of heatstroke, but doctors could not confirm that.

Rashedul Islam died in Chamterhat market of Madati union of the upazila on Friday afternoon. The 50-year-old man was said to be an autorickshaw driver by profession.

Rashedul is the son of Badar Uddin of Khordd Bichandai village of Dauabari union of Hatibandha upazila. He used to sell paper.

Locals say that on Friday morning, Rashedul went to Chamterhat market by auto-rickshaw to conduct miking for Golam Mritza Community Clinic. After that, he fell ill while leaving a hotel in the area in the afternoon and died on the spot.

Mahbubur Rahman, a UP member of Ward No. 5 of Dauabari Union Parishad, said, “Rashedul Islam went to the local Chamtar market to mike this intense heat. He died after having lunch there.”

Chairman of that UP Moshiur Rahman said, “Rashedul fell ill due to extreme heat. There he died of heatstroke.”

When asked about this, the resident medical officer of Hatibandha Health Complex, Dr. Anarul Islam, said, “Because he was going out after eating. A stroke may occur due to increased pressure.

“Heatstroke would cause the person’s hands and feet to tremble. Without prompt medical advice, the person may have died.”

Kaliganj police station OC Imtiaz Kabir said that they have heard about the matter. Inquiries are being made.
