Due to the dispute caused by the football game in Brahmanbaria. A youth named Yakur (30) was stabbed to death.

The incident took place on the Bari High School ground in Narsingsar of Natai South Union of Sadar Upazila on Friday evening. At this time, 5 more people were injured.

The deceased Yakub is the son of deceased Abdullah of Najat clan of that village. According to local residents and police sources, the final match of the Samyun Basir football tournament was held at A Bari High School ground in Narsingsar village on Friday afternoon. In the game, the West Para team of Narsingsa defeated the North Para team and became the champion. At the end of the game, the West Para team cheered. At that time, when some of the North Para team interrupted, an argument ensued between them. Later, some people led by Raihan and Tarek, sons of Quddus members of Najat’s group, stabbed them indiscriminately with sharp knives. 5 people including Yakub, Jewel, Kamal and Arman were injured in the stabbing. They were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital and the doctor on duty pronounced Yakub dead.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station. Aslam Hossain said that the police have been sent to the area after receiving information. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
