Two riders of a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a cow-carrying nachiman (slow-powered engine) in Dinajpur’s Heli. Earlier, the truck driver and assistant died in a head-on collision between two trucks in Ghoraghat upazila in the morning.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an engine driven Nachiman in Hakimpur. Five people were killed in 3 separate road accidents in Dinajpur on the same day.
Two motorcycle riders were killed on the north side of Dangapara Bazar on Hili-Birampur regional road around noon on Friday (April 26). On the other hand, a head-on collision between two trucks took place in the T&T junction area of Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway of Ghoraghat upazila.
The deceased are truck driver Golam Rabbani (45) and helper Mohammad Rezwan (34) of Mirgram Choumuhani village of Joypurhat Sadar upazila, Dhiman Kumar Ghosh (30) of Kumarpara village of Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur and Arif Hossain (32) of Daudpur village.
Citing witnesses, Hakimpur Police Station said that two friends on their way to Birampur from Hili on a motorcycle died on the spot when they were hit by a cattle carrier at the end of Hakimpur Upazila.
Hakimpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) SM Jahangir Alam said that two friends came to Hakimpur on a motorcycle. They were returning to Nawabganj via Birampur. When they reached Dangapara village around 2:30 in the afternoon, the speeding Nachiman hit the motorcycle, killing them on the spot.
Birganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwarul Islam said that a motorcycle rider was killed after being hit by a truck on the Dinajpur-Panchgarh highway on Thursday evening. The deceased Tamim was a resident of Birganj city.
Another person was injured in this accident. He was rescued and taken to Birganj Upazila Health Complex.
