Wife Munni Begum fed sleeping pills with rice to her husband Muhammad Ali Madbar (40) on the advice of her estranged lover Mamun Chowkidar. After that, when the husband fell asleep, he handed it over to his lover in the dark of night. The lover along with his accomplices killed Muhammad Ali and dumped the body in a village pond. The incident took place in Shariatpur’s Naria.

The house of deceased Muhammad Ali is in Radi Kandi area of ​​Maijpara village of Japsa union of Naria upazila. He was a CNG driver by profession. He is the son of deceased Amin Uddin Madbar of that village. Munni Begum narrated the disappearance and murder of Mohammad Ali during the interrogation of relatives at the deceased’s house on Friday afternoon.

On Thursday (April 25) afternoon, the police recovered the body of Mohammad Ali Madbar from the pond of Chan Mia Madbar, the former chairman of Domsar Union Parishad of Shariatpur Sadar Upazila. The day before, when Muhammad Ali went missing on Wednesday night, his relatives started searching.

It is known from local people and police sources that Munni Begum got married to Mohammad Ali Madbar about nine years ago. They have two daughters in their family. Munni Begum often ran away with her estranged lover Mamun Chowkidar. A few days ago, Munni Begum ran away with Mamun. But thinking of the young children, Mohammad Ali Madbar brought his wife Munni back again. Even then the estranged lover Mamun Chowkidar kept in touch with Munni Begum in various ways. Mohammad Ali Madbar went missing last Wednesday night. The next day on Thursday, the police recovered his body and sent it to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Muhammad Ali’s relatives found out from the hospital that he had taken sleeping pills. After coming home, Munni Begum inquired about the matter, she said that after taking sleeping pills with rice, the husband was handed over to the estranged lover Mamun and his companions. Later the locals arrested Munni Begum and handed her over to the police.

Munni Begum said, I left. After that, Muhammad Ali brought me back to trouble. Even after coming to this house, I contacted Mamun on his mobile phone. Mamun told me, Muhammad Ali filed the case in his (Mamun’s) name. If the case continues then I will harm Muhammad Ali. But I told him, Muhammad Ali will drop the case, no harm done. But Mamun did not listen to me but scared me and said, ‘I will give sleeping medicine today, this medicine should be given to Muhammad Ali. Or I will kill your daughters.’

Munni said, I gave sleeping medicine to Muhammad Ali because of Mamun’s words. Then Mamun came and took away Muhammad Ali. When Mamun took Muhammad Ali, there were two other boys with him, but I do not know them. Muhammad Ali was unconscious when Muhammad Ali was taken away.

Asif Madbar, the nephew of the deceased, said that the aunt left two or three times. The uncle looked at the children and brought them back again and again. But Kaki was not well. Kaki took all the money from uncle last Wednesday night. Then Kaka was given sleeping pills and handed over to the estranged lover Mamun. Mamun is killing my uncle. I want the murderers hanged.

Ayesha Begum, elder sister of the deceased, said, despite leaving repeatedly, my brother brought Munni. But on Wednesday night, Munni killed my brother with a strange lover by taking sleeping pills. I want justice for the murder of my brother.

Shariatpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Naria Circle) Ahsan Habib said that there was marital discord in the family of deceased Muhammad Ali. Several complaints were made to the police about the matter. Subject to investigation, legal action will be taken.
