Speech-impaired youth drowned in river in Shariatpur

For a long time, Rana Fakir’s family could not find any trace of speech impediment. The family members thought that he had gone to bathe in the river but could not find him after searching all around. Later, fire service diving team recovered Rana Fakir’s body from the river.

On Friday (April 26) evening, the body was recovered from Kirtinasha river in Char Palong village of Ward No. 3 of Shariatpur Municipality.

The deceased speech-impaired Rana Fakir (23) is the son of Zakir Hossain Fakir of Chandani village in Bhojeshwar union of Naria upazila of Shariatpur.

According to local and police sources, Rana Fakir of Chandani village of Naria Upazila used to live with his uncle in the house of Dulal Sardar, next to the Karti Vidya Peeth School in Rupnagar area of ​​Shariatpur municipality. By birth, Rana was speech impaired and mentally unbalanced. On Friday afternoon, Rana’s relatives could not find her for a long time and they assumed that she had gone for a bath in the Kirtinasha river. After that, when the relatives reported the matter to Shariatpur Fire Service, the fire service’s diving team rescued Rana Fakir from the Kirtinasha river of Chal Palang village around 6 pm. Later, when he was sent to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, the emergency department doctor declared him dead.

Abdul Hakim Khan, station officer of Shariatpur Fire Service, said that the body of a person named Rana Fakir was recovered after receiving information from Madaripur. The body was sent to the hospital.

Palang Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mejbah Uddin Ahmed said that the police have been sent to the spot in connection with the recovery of Rana Fakir’s body. Legal action will be taken in this case.
