People’s lives have been disturbed by the ongoing severe heatwave in the whole country including Chittagong. This intense heat wave is flowing over the country for 27 consecutive days. As a result, chicken is being sold at a lower price than before due to the fear of dying in the heat due to excess water vapor. Although this did not relieve the market, the price of broiler chicken has decreased by Tk 20-30 per kg in a week. But there is an additional fish and vegetable market.

On Friday (April 26), broiler chickens were being sold at Tk 210 in different markets of the city. Where last week it was sold at 230 Tk. Apart from this, goldfish are being sold at Tk 360 to Tk 370 and domestic chicken at Tk 640 to Tk 660.

Shariful Islam, a chicken seller in Riazuddin Bazar, told CVoice24 that he has to sell chicken at a low price due to the fear of dying due to the intense heat. Chicken was being sold for Rs 240 to Rs 250 last week. But chickens are suffering from heat stroke due to intense heat. So farmers are supplying chicken at low price to avoid losses.

Abu Bakr Siddique Litton, owner of Litton Poultry Farm in Sitakunda area, told CVoice24 that our chickens are dying every day due to the heat. As a result, it is not possible to raise chickens in the farm. So it is being sold at a low price.

He said, currently, broiler chickens are being sold at 170 to 180 per kg and gold ones at 280 taka at the wholesale level.

Meanwhile, vegetables are being sold at higher prices in the market since last week. Eggplant at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg, bitter gourd at Tk 80, potato at Tk 70, gourd at Tk 60, gourd at Tk 80, cucumber at Tk 60, gourd at Tk 40 to Tk 50, papaya at Tk 50, radish at Tk 50, cauliflower at Tk 40 to Tk 50 each, pumpkin 40 to 50 taka per kg and green chillies are being sold at 50 to 120 taka depending on the place

On the other hand, bone-in beef is being sold at Tk 750 per kg and boneless at Tk 900 per kg. Khasi meat is being sold for Tk 1,500 to 1,100 per kg. In the farm, eggs were sold at Tk 120 per dozen, duck eggs at Tk 180, domestic chicken eggs at Tk 85 per dozen.

All types of fish are being sold at higher prices as the supply dwindles over the course of the week. Karnaphuli market of Kazi Deuri area 1 thousand 200 taka per kg of hilsa fish weighing 500 grams. Fish of 700 to 800 grams is one and a half thousand taka. 350 to 450 taka per kg of mrigel, 220 to 240 taka pangas, 900 to 1,300 taka shrimp, 500 to 900 taka boal, 400 to 600 taka katal, 400 to 600 taka poa, 400 to 500 taka tilapia Taka, where it is being sold for 220 to 240 taka.
