Molly Rani Saha (46), who was burnt by candle fire while performing puja in a temple in Manikganj, died under treatment.
The victim’s husband Ashok Kumar Saha confirmed the matter on Friday (April 26).
Deceased Molly Rani Saha is the wife of Ashok Kumar Saha of Bangram area of Gangadharpatti in Manikganj municipality. He was working as a FO in a private insurance company in Manikganj city.
According to family sources, on the night of April 18, Sri Sri Anandamoyi Kalibari Temple of Manikganj city went to take a selfie on his mobile while putting vermilion on the forehead of the altar on the tenth day of Basanti Durga Puja.
Meanwhile, the fire of the candle lit inside the temple caught Molly Rani Saha’s sari and the fire quickly spread to Molly Rani Saha’s body. Later, the worshipers of the temple put out the fire in his body and rushed him to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. But as his condition is serious, after the first treatment, the doctors shifted him to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. After that he died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute.
Govind Kumar Sutradhar, a colleague of the victim, said that Molly Rani Saha’s body caught fire quickly through the saree and more than 35 percent of the body was burnt. Sheikh Hasina passed away on Thursday midnight after being under treatment for seven days at the Burn Institute. The doctors said that he died due to the high rate of burns on his body.
The deceased’s husband Ashok Kumar Saha said that her (Moli Rani Saha) body has been kept in the freezer of Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute. My son studies in Bangalore, India, he has been informed. When the son returns home, the body will be taken home (Manikganj).
