The vegetable market is up, the price of chicken has not decreased

Ordinary people grinding in intense heat. Along with that, the city dwellers are fed up with the price of daily necessities. The prices of all products starting from fish, meat, vegetables, lemon, green chillies are on the rise. Before fasting, the broiler chicken was sold at 160-180 taka. Now it is not available for less than Tk 200-220.

On Friday (April 26), this picture was seen in various markets including Kawran Bazaar in the capital.

Regarding the increase in prices, the sellers say that the prices of hot summer vegetables have also increased. On the other hand, the buyers say that the traders are deliberately increasing the prices by holding the common people hostage in the hope of more profit.

Looking around the market, it can be seen that lemon juice is being sold at the price of 20-30 taka. Shopkeepers say that due to intense heat, lemons are in the top demand in the market. Also some types of green chillies are being sold at 60-90 taka per kg. The price of comeni potato is 50 taka per kg, desi garlic is 160-180 taka, onion is 60-65 taka. And China garlic is being sold at 220 taka.

However, going to the fish-meat market, it has been seen that the price of fish has decreased slightly due to the shortage of buyers, the price of beef and pork has also decreased. Beef is being sold at Tk 750-800 per kg in the market, goat meat at Tk 1000 and goat meat at Tk 900 per kg.

Meanwhile, traders demand a slight reduction in the price of hilsa. Hilsa weighing 500 to 700 grams per kg is being sold at Tk 1200 and large size prawns are being sold at Tk 1200-1400 per kg, Shing 450, Gulsha 750, Pabda 400, Tengra fish Tk 700, Puti 220, Rui fish Tilapia 220, Tatikini 220, Pangas is being sold at Tk 220.

Although the fish market is the same as before, the vegetable market is on fire. No vegetable is available in the market for less than 60 rupees per kg. Patal 140 Tk. 120, long brinjal 80, carrot 80, chichinga 80 kg are being sold.

Abul Hasan, an official of a private company, complained that the market was on fire this summer. No vegetable is below 50/60 taka. Besides, the price of fish seems high. Small lemons are asking for 30/40 taka. Even after bringing one or two thousand rupees, the days of carrying a bag full of bazaar are over long ago. Now, when you come to the market, you have to bring money in your pocket. But we can’t match the market with the size of our salary. If the common people cannot be freed from such a situation, the situation will worsen day by day.

Meanwhile, traders complain that many vegetables are being wasted in the fields due to heat. So the supply is low. And because the supply is less than the demand, the price of vegetables is slightly higher.
