The police recovered the bodies of the husband and wife from a flat in Sreepur, Gazipur. A note was also recovered.
Mulaid village of the upazila on Friday morning. Inspector (Investigation) of Sreepur Police Station said that their bodies were recovered from a flat on the ground floor of Farooq Khan’s multi-storied building. Sakhawat Hossain.
The deceased Md. Israfil (17) of Haldi village of Jhenaigati police station of Sherpur district. Mofizul Haque’s son and Mocha. Rokeya Khatun (15) is the daughter of Abul Kashem of Pastari village of Ishwarganj police station in Mymensingh district.
Seven-eight months ago, they got married without the permission of the family. Israfil worked in a workshop and Rokeya garment factory.
Mofizul Haque, the father of the deceased Israfil, said that Israfil used to live in their rented house in Mulaid area. After marrying Amate Rokeya of the family, Israfil moved away with his wife.
Later he was brought back with his wife. After that, Israfil and Rokeya were living on rent in the flat next to them.
He also said that he found the door of Israfil’s flat open on Friday morning and went inside. Then found Israfil hanging wrapped in a veil with a fan and Rokeya’s body lying on the bed.
After being informed, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.
Deceased Rokey’s elder brother. Borhan Uddin said that Israfil and Rokeya were missing after marriage. After GD at the police station, they were found and discussed with both the families. Then I know that their relationship was going well.
“Recently Israfil left home after a quarrel with his parents. Later on Thursday, he was again explained and brought home. After that I didn’t talk to them anymore. I got the news of their death in the morning.”
Sripur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Sakhawat Hossain said, a note was found on the table next to the body.
The note was written, “Parents forgive me, I could not stay with you. My life hangs for me. So I couldn’t stay. I don’t blame anyone. No one is at fault. My soul is waiting for me. Everyone will be fine. – Md. Israfil.”
“Mom, I don’t know why my soul hanged. I am fully responsible for that. No one is at fault.”
Besides, Israfil requested his mother to bury his wife next to his grave.
Inspector Sakhawat said, initially it is believed that the wife committed suicide. Unable to bear the matter, the husband also committed suicide.
The body has been recovered and sent for post-mortem. He also said that legal action is being taken in this regard.
