Four children drowned in Chandina and Daudkandi in Comilla. The incident took place on Thursday (April 25) at noon in Barkota of Biteshwar union of Daudkandi upazila and in Tulatali village of Ward No. 9 of Chandina municipality at noon.
The children who died in Chandina are Nadia (7) daughter of Abdul Quddus Montu of Tulatali village of the upazila and Sadia (8) daughter of Saiful Islam of this village. They are cousins. On the other hand, the two children who died in Daudkandi are Md. of Barkota village of the upazila. Nazrul’s son Faisal (8) and Anwar Hossain’s son Rifat (7) of the same village.
According to the relatives of the two children killed in Chandina, two children came out of the house to play with bicycles at 11 am on Thursday. Abdul Jabbar, the deceased Sadia’s maternal grandfather, saw a bicycle and shoes near a banyan tree 200 yards from the house at around 12 noon. At that time, he did not find them and took the bicycle and shoes home. Since then, their family has not found them anywhere. At 2 pm, the family members of the deceased Nadia’s grandmother went to the nearby fisheries project suspecting that they found another pant in the same place. After that, the bodies of two children were found drowning in the water.
Abdul Latif, grandfather of the deceased Nadia, said that the two were rescued from the water and taken to the Chandina Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
Relatives of the two children killed in Daudkandi said that around 11 am on Thursday, the children Faisal and Rifat were playing near the house. Suddenly, after searching without finding them, the body is found floating in the water of the pool. Later they were rescued and taken to Gouripur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them dead. It is said that the two children of the dead neighbors were studying in a madrasa in Barkota area.
