Jessore: A man named Mrinmoy Bhadra killed his ex-wife after accusing her of ‘blackmailing’ her money after separation. The police arrested him on the charge of murder.
On Wednesday (April 24) in Mathbari village of Jessore Sadar Upazila, the locals informed the police after finding the body of the woman wearing a saree from the bank of Bukbhara Baor. Later the police came and recovered the body. Meanwhile, three mobile phones were recovered from the dead body. The police have arrested the accused and the identity of the dead woman based on the phone.
The deceased Khadija Khatun alias Mitu Karmakar is the daughter of Ajgar Ali Sardar of Dhandiya Krishnanagar village of Patkelghata police station in Satkhira. After marriage, he converted and changed his name to Mitu Karmakar. The detained Mrinmoy Bhadra is the son of Madan Kumar Bhadra of Chandutia village of Jessore Sadar Upazila. Currently he lives in Damodarkathi village of Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira.
Jessore DB Police OC Rupan Kumar Sarkar held a press briefing at his office on Wednesday afternoon, revealing the mystery of the murder.
He said that Khajida’s life was disorderly. He takes drugs regularly. Satkhira’s Patkelghata police station has two cases under his name, including a drug case. Khadija got into a relationship with a Hindu boy a couple of years ago. After this Khadija converted from Muslim to Hinduism. After that he became a Mitu worker from Khadija. Later, due to riotous living, the family got separated. Then met Mrinmoy Bhandra of Chandutia village of Sadar Upazila at a dance event in Satkhira. After a long courtship they got married.
A few years ago Mitu and Mrinmoy got separated. Still they were in contact. During their marriage, Mitu used to extort money by cheating on intimate pictures and videos between Mitu and Mrinmoy. After being deceived many times, Mrinmoy took Mitu from Satkhira on Tuesday and took her to Bukvara Bawar in Jessore. Mrinmoy then drugged Mitu and killed her by suffocation around 11:00 p.m., leaving the body in a paddy field in Bawar. Mrinmoy was arrested from his uncle’s house on the basis of the mobile phone lying next to the dead body. The case is under process in this incident.
