Baghaichhari Upazila Executive Officer Shirin Akhter said that BRTA will give compensation to those who died in the road accident in the 90 degree area of Sajek in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati.
He said that 5 lakh taka per deceased and 2 lakh taka per injured will be given. Besides, upazila administration will pay Tk 10,000 for transporting the body.
On Thursday (April 25) morning, he came to see the injured in the accident at Khagrachari Modern District Headquarters Hospital and informed the journalists about this information.
Earlier on Thursday, the police brought the bodies of 5 people from Sajek Police Station to Khagrachari Modern District Headquarters Hospital.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Baghaichhari Police Circle Abdul Awal Chowdhury said that the 9 deceased will be handed over to their families after the autopsy.
Among the injured, Ahir Uddin and his son Samiul were shifted to Dhaka in the morning for better treatment at Khagrachari Modern District Sadar Hospital.
Ripal Bappi Chakma, Resident Medical Officer of Khagrachari Modern District Sadar Hospital, said that currently 4 people are under treatment in the hospital.
It may be noted that on Wednesday (April 24), goods and workers were going to Udaipur from different areas to work on the border road. The truck lost control while descending a hilly road at a 90 degree angle and fell into a ditch and overturned. 5 people died on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, about four and a half hours away, by truck and jeep.
At that time, the doctor on duty declared 4 people dead. 6 others were hospitalized in critical condition.
Ahir Uddin and his son Samiul were sent to Dhaka in critical condition.
