Comilla: Two children of the same family drowned in Chandina upazila. The incident took place in Tulatali village, ward number 9 of the municipality on Thursday (April 25).
The deceased children are Nadia (7) daughter of Abdul Quddus Montu of Tulatali village and Sadia (8) daughter of Saiful Islam. They are about aunt and sister’s daughter.
Talking to the families of the victims, it is said that Sadia and Nadia left the house to play with bicycles at 11 o’clock. Sadia’s maternal grandfather, Abdul Jabbar, found the bicycle and their shoes near a banyan tree 200 yards from the house around 12 noon. Not finding Nadia-Sadia, he returned home with the bicycle and shoes. After much searching, they could not find the two children anywhere.
Around 2pm, Nadia’s grandmother found a pajama near the banyan tree. When in doubt, the family members went to the nearby fish project. At that time, they found the bodies of two children drowning in waist-deep water.
Nadia’s grandfather and Ward Awami League leader Abdul Latif said that Sadia and her granddaughter were picked up from the water and taken to Chandina Upazila Health Complex and examined by the doctor on duty. Both were later declared dead.
