It will be known on Monday whether charges will be filed in the murder case of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afnan Preeti in Motijheel, Dhaka.
On Thursday, a hearing was held in Dhaka’s third special and senior session judge Ali Hossain’s court regarding the framing of charges against 33 accused in this case.
After the hearing, the judge set a date for the order on Monday, April 29.
Earlier, on March 28, the hearing of the charge sheet was postponed for the third time. Gazi Zillur Rahman, the plaintiff’s lawyer, said that the hearing was held on Thursday.
Inspector Yasin Shikder, the investigating officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court on June 5 next year in the incident of killing two people by shooting them publicly on the road of Shahjahanpur of the capital in 2022. It is claimed that the ‘truth’ of the allegations against 34 people has been found. However, as the identity of a suspect named ‘XL Sohail’ could not be confirmed, 33 people were accused excluding him.
Among the accused are Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League organizing secretary Ashraf Talukdar, South City ward number 10 councilor Maruf Ahmed Mansoor, former Motijheel Thana Chhatra League general secretary Khairul Islam, Motijheel Thana Jatiya Party leader Zuber Alam Khan Rabin, former convener of Habibullah Bahar College Chhatra League Sohel Shahriar. , 10th Ward Jubo League Expelled President Maruf Reza Sagar, 11th Ward Former President Kamruzzaman Babul.
24 people have been arrested in this case. Musa, Shooter Akash and Nasir Uddin Manik also gave a confessional statement in the court.
Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu was killed on the night of March 24, 2022. At that time, the rickshaw puller college student Preeti was killed along with him.
A man on a motorcycle approached Tipu’s car, which was stuck in traffic, near the Khilgaon rail gate and shot him. Preeti, a college student who was in a rickshaw next to the car, was also killed by the assailants. The murder created a debate at the time.
That night, Tipu’s wife, local woman ward councilor Farhana Islam Dolly filed a case against unknown persons.
