In Munshiganj’s Tongibari upazila, an allegation was found against the nephews of beating an old man to death due to a dispute over land. The incident took place in Toulkai village of the upazila around 11 pm on Wednesday. In this incident, a murder case was registered at Tongibari police station on Thursday afternoon.

The name of the dead old man is Kadir Halder (65). He is a resident of Toulkai village.

According to the relatives, police and case affidavits, a man named Mubarak Haldar of Toulkai village will sell his land. That land will be bought by his own brothers Qadir Halder, Farooq Halder and Jalal Halder. However, Jalal Halder’s eldest son Rubel Halder secretly registered the land from Mubarak Halder a month ago without informing the other uncles. There was a dispute with Qadir Haldar and other uncles about this. Yesterday, Wednesday around 11 pm, Qadir Halder went to Rubel Halder’s house with his two sons Arif Halder, Faisal Halder and his brother Farooq Halder. Rubel and Qadir’s haldars started arguing about why they are not giving that land to other uncles. At one stage Rubel Halder, Mubarak Halder, Labu Halder, Shaheed Sheikh Bakkar Sheikh and some others beat and injured Qadir Halder, his two sons and Farooq Halder. When Qadir Halder was rescued and taken to Tongibari Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
