A swimmer died while crossing from Sri Lanka to India. The late swimmer’s name is Gopal Rao. The 78-year-old swimmer’s home is in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is known that he died of a heart attack. Rao was a member of a swimming group. On April 22, the swimming team left the Indian island of Rameswaram by boat. The team started swimming from Thalaimannar in Sri Lanka towards Dhanushkodi.

On April 22, the swimmers left Rameswaram by boat. Then they started swimming from Thalaimannar in Sri Lanka towards Dhanushkodi at around 12:00 PM on April 23. Gopal Rao was the third swimmer in the lineup. Around 3 pm he suddenly felt sick. He feels chest pain. His treatment started immediately. First aid started on the boat. But there was no last defense. Doctors declared him dead. A shadow of grief descends on the sudden death of the competitor. The event is cancelled. The rest of the swimmers decided to cancel the relay event. They returned to Dhanushkodi island by boat. Gopalbabu’s body has been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered by the Rameswaram town police in the incident, it is learned that the swimmers had taken all necessary permissions from the authorities in both India and Sri Lanka.
