Charge hearing in Tipu-Preeti murder case ends, order on April 29

In Shahjahanpur of the capital, a hearing was held to form charges against 33 accused in the murder case of former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Awami League Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Preeti.

Judge Ali Hossain of Dhaka No. 3 Special Judge’s Court took the hearing today Thursday.

On this day, the public prosecutor of the concerned court, Rafiq Uddin (Bachchu), proposed to file charges against the 33 accused in the case.

On the other hand, the lawyers for the accused heard the petition for the exemption of the accused. After hearing both sides, the court fixed the order date on April 29.

There are 33 accused in this case. 6 accused are absconding, 8 are on bail and 19 are in jail.

The accused in the case are Dhaka South City Corporation Ward No. 10 Councilor and Awami League Leader Maruf Ahmed Mansoor, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Organizing Secretary Golam Ashraf Talukder, Ward No. 10 Jubo League Leader Aminul, Ward No. 11 Jubo League Former President Kamruzzaman Babul, Sohel Rana Mollah, Rifat Hossain and Shamsul Haider Uchhal, former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Chhatra League Khairul Islam, leader of Motijheel Thana Jatiya Party Zuber Alam Khan Rabin, former convener of Habibullah Bahar College Chhatra League Sohel Shahriar, 10th Ward Jubo League Expelled President Maruf Reza Sagar, supplier of weapons, 10 Number Ward former member of Jubo League Kailya Palash, former convener of Chhatra League Asifur Rahman alias Ghatak Sohail, Sumon Shikder Musa, Musa’s brother Yasir Arafat Saikat, Musa’s nephew Sekandar Shikdar Akash, Imran Hossain Jitu, Molla Shamim, Rakibur Rahman Rakib, Taufiq Hasan alias BD Babu, Omar Farooq, ‘Killer’ Nasir, Ishtiaq Hossain Jitu, former Chhatra League leader Mahbubur Rahman alias Titu, Mohammad Maruf Khan, shooter Masum Mohammad Akash, Nasir Uddin Manik, Moshiur Rahman Ikram, Abul Hossain Mohammad Arfan Ullah Imam Khan, Abu Saleh Shikder and Shamim. Hossein.

Among the accused, Suman Shikder alias Musa, Shooter Akash and Nasir Uddin Manik have given confessional statements.

On March 24, 2022, Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu was shot dead near Islami Bank in Shahjahanpur. At that time, a college student named Samia Afran Preeti (19) who was in the rickshaw next to the car was also killed. Besides, Tipu’s driver Munna was shot dead.

In this incident, Tipu’s wife, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) reserved councilor Farzana Islam Dolly filed a case. Unknown names are accused in the case.
