The family has alleged that Afsana Hossain Sheela died due to wrong treatment at the private union hospital in Cox’s Bazar city. However, the hospital authorities are unwilling to shoulder his responsibility.

The name of the pregnant woman’s husband is Muhammad Iftekar. His house is in Kalamarchara of Maheshkhali upazila.

Claiming that his wife Sheela died due to the hospital’s negligence, irresponsibility and wrong treatment, husband Iftekar said – when his wife started suffering, he took her to doctor Nina Jahan on April 21. He referred the patient to Union Hospital. After being taken there, the doctor on duty, Shahed, admitted the obstetrician Sheela and administered the injection. Then Sheila started having severe stomach pain.

Claiming that the hospital authorities have concealed the information, Iftekar also said that while she was admitted in the hospital, Sheila had to undergo a caesarean section on April 22, and doctor Shahed asked to collect blood for her. That day around three o’clock in the night, doctor Shahed took his wife Sheela to the operation theater along with nurses Himu and Soma and his wife gave birth to a baby girl. But the hospital authorities kept secret the fact that the uterus was cut during Sheela’s operation.

Blaming doctor Shahed, nurse Himu, Soma and the hospital authorities for the death of his wife, the victim Iftekar said – When the union hospital authorities said that my wife’s bleeding was not stopping, we informed doctor Neena Jahan. On his advice, I admitted my wife Sheela in the ICO of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. Sheela died there on the night of April 24.

Afsana Hossain Sheela’s father Mohammad Hossain said – Doctors and nurses of Union Hospital killed my daughter. And no father should lose his daughter, the accused should be punished.

However, Union Hospital authorities claim that they are not responsible for the death of pregnant Sheela.

In this regard, the hospital’s medical officer Mosabbir Hossain Tamim said – the operation was done with the permission of the patient’s husband. There is no negligence of doctors and nurses here.

Meanwhile, a source confirmed that the union hospital authorities have formed an investigation committee in the death of the maternity mother.

An attempt was made to contact Nurul Huda, Managing Director of Union Hospital, to find out about that. But his mobile phone was found switched off.
