Charge-making hearing in Tipu-Preeti murder case completed, order on April 29

The hearing of charges against 33 accused in the case of shooting death of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Priti in Shahjahanpur of the capital has ended. The court has fixed April 29 for the order in this regard.

On Thursday (April 25), Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-3 Judge Ali Hossain was scheduled to file charges in the case. On this day, the lawyers asked for the release of 26 accused and bail for 19 accused. After the hearing, the court fixed April 29 for the framing of charges and bail orders against the accused.

Before this, on June 5 of last year, the investigating officer DB Police Inspector Yasin Shikder filed this charge sheet in the General Registration Branch of Shahjanpur Police Station. Inspector Yasin Shikder, investigating officer of the case, said that the report found the allegations against 34 people to be true. However, as the full name and address of an accused named Axel Sohail was not available, an application has been made to acquit him. 33 people have been accused for trial in this case. Later, on June 20, the court accepted the charge sheet against 33 people, including two terrorists, Jisan and Freedom Manik, who were absconding abroad.

The notable accused included in the charge sheet are Ashraf Talukdar, organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League, Maruf Ahmed Mansoor, ward number 10 councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation and Awami League leader, former general secretary of Motijheel Thana Chhatra League, Khairul Islam, leader of Motijheel Jatiya Party Zuber Alam Khan Rabin, Thana Thana. Former convenor of Habibullah Bahar College Chhatra League Sohail Shahriar, expelled president of Ward No. 10 Jubo League Maruf Reza Sagar, former president of Ward No. 11 Kamruzzaman Babul, former member of Ward No. 10 Jubo League Kailya Palash, former leader of Jubo League of the same ward Aminul, former convenor of Chhatra League ‘Ghatak’ Sohail , Suman Shikder Musa, Musa’s brother Saikat, Musa’s nephew Shikder Akash, Imran Hossain Jitu, Molla Shamim, Rakib, BD Babu, Omar Farooq, ‘Killer’ Nasir, Rifat, Ishtiaq Hossain Jitu, Mahbubur Rahman Titu, Hafiz, Masum and Rana Molla. .

Among them, Musa, Shooter Akash and Nasir Uddin Manik voluntarily gave their confessional statement in the court.

On March 24, 2022, Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu was shot dead in front of the butter showroom next to Islami Bank in Shahjahanpur at around 10:30 pm. Meanwhile, a college student named Samia Afran Preeti (19) who was in the rickshaw next to the car was also killed. Besides, Tipu’s driver Munna was shot dead.

After this sensational murder, Tipu’s wife, who was killed at Shahjahanpur police station, Farhana Islam Dolly, a reserved councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), filed a murder case as the plaintiff. Unknown persons are accused in this.

In the statement of the case, Tipu’s wife complained that on March 24, 2022, at around 10:30 pm, unknown miscreants attacked the butter shop of 202 North Shahjahanpur Manama Bhawan of Shahjahanpur Police Station. They shot Zahidul Islam Tipu with firearms in a deliberate attempt to kill him.
